Three men-first Paul Avery (Robert Downey Jr), the crime writer for the San Francisco Chronicle, who was eventually threatened by the Zodiac killer; Inspector David Toschi (Mark Ruffalo), the principle investigator for the San Francisco murder; and Robert Graysmith (Jake Gyllenhaal), a political cartoonist who loves puzzles and gets drawn into the case-become obsessed with solving the Zodiac killer murders. None of them succeed, and each pays a price for his obsession.![]()
